The original Oblique Strategies was a simple deck of cards with enigmatic suggestions of actions to take when faced with a creative difficulty, deadlock, or dilemma. If you were working on a creative project and found yourself stuck, you would take the deck, shuffle it, draw a card, and follow its advice.

This is the iOS version of that deck of cards, ready for you at a moment’s notice when you find yourself creatively blocked or in need of some inspiration.

Oblique Strategies was created by musical and visual artist Brian Eno and painter Peter Schmidt, who were friends that shared a set of principles that they followed when faced with the time pressures that came with their creative work. Eno and Schmidt found that working on deadlines often caused them to ignore or forget their most creative and productive approaches, and that having Oblique Strategies was a helpful tool to have around.
