The app uses historic photographs from the collection of the Museum of the City of New York, to guide users on a cultural and architectural journey. Sources such as the New York Amsterdam News, a weekly African-American newspaper geared towards Harlem, are cited and provide first hand news accounts of events that occurred in this historic neighborhood. Learn about the early settlers of Harlem and the land and building speculation that followed as New York City expanded northward.

The app highlights the Mount Morris Park Historic District, which includes a remarkably interesting cross-section of turn of the century townhouses and churches.
