Your bot operates by artificial intelligence (AI). It recognizes appropriate targets and knows how to swing a staff. However, it does not know which of the eight swing positions to choose next and has no tactical experience.

Station your trainee near a bag, dummy or Agent. At first, your trainee may just wave the staff around. But, when it hits something it will start to get better. In the real world that is called machine learning, and yes, your bot has a real artificial neural network (ANN) built in. Your Trainee goes through a training cycle after every swing and actually learns (in a machine way) what works. Your trainee learns which swing sequence causes damage and which sequence just waves the staff around.

Keep in mind SPX is more SIMULATION, than animation. Meaning, the trainee actually has to hit something. Damage is measured by how hard your trainee hits. The Unity game development platform that this app is built on keeps track of collisions between objects. When a staff "collides" with the body of an opponent, damage is calculated based on staff velocity at impact.

Agent 0 and Agent 1 are fine opponents who operate with their own AI, but not machine learning. You can have your Trainee practice with them. You can even program Agent 1 to swing in patterns designed by you. A good way to get an early look at fighting is to pit Agent 0 against Agent 1 on the gym mat. When your trainee can swing on its own, you may want to fight the trainee yourself by piloting Mech7, another gym robot.

While your Trainee gains experience, swing combinations are discovered. Some do more damage and some are good defensive moves. As trainer, you take advantage of this experience by adjusting tactical settings. Increased experience and good tactical settings give your trainee a fighting edge.

When ready, check your Trainee's progress on the mat located in the gym. Scores are kept automatically and winners and losers are declared on the gym mat. Feel the thrill of your first practice victory!

Now that your Trainee is performing to your standards, challenge family and friends in The Arena. You can challenge anyone who has the game and is on the same Wi-Fi connection. Everyone who wants to compete goes to The Arena. A list of potential opponents is displayed. Once a challenge is issued and accepted, the challenger training data is transferred to an empty bot on the defender's mobile device. The defender's training data is also loaded and the match takes place on the defender's mobile device.

The Arena mat operates the same as the gym mat, only results are "official." The result of the fight is recorded on both mobile devices. No worries about whose device is faster. The fighting is all on the same device. This makes a completely level playing field.

Your Trainee fight record is kept on your mobile device (for bragging rights of course). Or, if the trainee record is not up to your standards, starting over is easy. Go to the gym, reset the robot memory, and see if you can come up with a better training regimen. Also, name and colors can be changed at any time.
