The Dodge Charger is a muscle car model produced by Dodge between 1966 and 1978. It was also made as a front-wheel drive hatchback between 1983 and 1987. With the rapid launch of the American Muscle car new models in 2006, the Dodge Charger returned to the market as a rear-wheel drive four-door sedan model.

First introduced in 1966, the Dodge Charger was ostensibly a coupe version of the Dodge Coronet, with body and styling evident. The Dodge Charger's sales figures in 1966 reached 37,344 but dropped to 15,788 a year later. Available with the base 318ci V8 engine, the 426ci 425bhp "Street Hemi" engine would have been much more desirable.
