Hop-Frog is a short story by the American writer Edgar Allan Poe which was published in March 1849 in a Boston newspaper, The Flag of Our Union.

Summary: Hop-Frog is a dwarf who was kidnapped from his native country to become the jester of a king who was particularly fond of pranks and other jokes. Also lame, but with exceptional arm strength and very agile climbing, it owes its name to its particular hopping gait. His only friend is an admirably proportioned dwarf named Tripetta, also from his country.
