Who We Are
Smart GEN Society (SGS) is an Omaha-based nonprofit operating to empower smart choices in a digital world. Founded by Amie Konwinski, military veteran, computer engineer, and mother of five, SGS is the leading organization in the region aimed at bringing preventative and proactive measures into our communities to offset the negative implications of a digitally dependent society.
What We Do
Our professional staff and trained facilitators seek to protect and empower today's students and families to think critically about their digital usage, while maintaining their privacy and safety, and staying true to their authentic self. SGS’s goal is to reduce digital-based anxiety, prevent peer and predator exploitation, and ensure online safety and privacy.
How We Do It
SGS serves K-12 youth and their families in partnership with participating public and private schools. We work to provide a triangular system of support around today’s youth through proven effective in-school workshops and seminars, classroom curriculum, and digital resources. With the support of the Munroe-Meyer Institute, SGS workshops are measured student surveys focused on digital usage, safety and privacy.
