If Stendhal is mainly known for his great novels, Le Rouge et le Noir and La Chartreuse de Parme, news and chronicles have never ceased to punctuate his abundant literary production. Numerous, very varied and scattered, they were never collected in a collection. Philibert Lescale, subtitled Sketch of a Rich Young Man in Paris is one of many short stories by the author. This one tells the story of a young man placed under the protection of a wealthy merchant from Paris named Lescale, and who inherits from the latter on his death.
