The mystery of the Holy Trinity is the central mystery of the Christian faith and life. It is the mystery of God in himself. It is therefore the source of all the other mysteries of the faith; it is the light that illuminates them. It is the most fundamental and essential teaching in the hierarchy of the truths of faith. "The whole history of salvation is the history of the revelation of the true and only God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who reconciles and unites to himself those who are separated by sin".
