- About the Valkyrie:
The Valkyrie is the cadet association at the Norwegian Naval Academy, founded in 1898 by Christoffer B. Meyer. The association is dedicated to maintaining traditions, promoting good spirits and commitment, and strengthening unity among the cadets. Throughout the year, the Valkyrie organizes a number of events, both inside and outside the school, to support the local community in Bergen.
Valkyrie's work extends beyond the academic, and is an independent association created by cadets, for cadets. Valkyrie's aim is to gather the members, take care of traditions and maintain morale and commitment among the cadets at the Naval Academy.
In addition to being a driving force for good cohesion at the school, the Valkyrie wants to extend a helping hand to the local environment in Bergen. The cancer action, Sjørøvertokt with the children's department at Haukeland and Høsttakkefest at Løvåsen nursing home are just a few of the many events we support below.
Valkyrien's day-to-day operations are managed by the President with the help of Valkyrien's board members. The board is elected once a year at the general meeting. This ensures commitment, new impulses and, not least, development in the cadet association. As new board members are elected every year, the Valkyrie has a control body and an order chancellery which ensures that laws and traditions are maintained in accordance with the laws set by the Valkyrie's members over the years the association has been active.
Commitment and Initiative:
The Valkyrie is built on the values of commitment and initiative, with the slogan "EX UNITATE VIRES – From togetherness comes growth". Our goal is to gather the cadets, preserve our traditions, and contribute to a positive and active student environment.
