SPARX-FP is currently only available to participants involved in a Black Dog Institute’s Future Proofing Study.

SPARX-FP is a game that teaches young people strategies to prevent depression. It is based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), which is the gold standard approach for managing and preventing depression and low mood.

SPARX-FP has seven levels that teach strategies to manage emotions, recognise and challenge unhelpful thoughts, and problem solve. Each level begins with the guide who describes a problem to fix in the fantasy world. Users are then transported to the fantasy world where their avatar completes challenges and receives suggestions from the guide on how to apply these new skills in real-world situations.

Each level takes up to 20 minutes to complete and users are recommended to complete 1-2 levels per week.
