VapeCalc is a tool developed for informational and educational purposes, designed to calculate nicotine consumption in e-cigarettes and assess addiction levels.
The tool is divided into two main sections:
1. Nicotine Calculator
This is the app's core functionality. It allows users to calculate their daily nicotine intake and understand its equivalent in traditional cigarettes.
How it works: The user must enter three pieces of information:
- Nicotine Concentration (mg/mL): The amount of nicotine present in the liquid (e-liquid or juice). The app explains how to find this information on the product label (e.g., 20mg/mL, 3.5%, or 5%).
- Bottle Volume (mL): The total size of the bottle or pod being consumed.
- Bottle Life (days): How many days the user consumes that volume of liquid.
When clicking "Calculate," the app processes this data to inform the user's daily consumption.
2. Dependence Test
This section offers a questionnaire based on medical criteria (similar to the Fagerström Dependence Test) to assess the user's level of nicotine dependence.
The test consists of six questions about consumption habits, such as:
- How long after waking up the user vapes.
- Difficulty refraining from vaping in prohibited areas.
- Which use would be most difficult to quit (e.g., first thing in the morning).
- Whether the user smokes even when sick.
After answering, the user can "Assess Dependence." The app offers the option to share the result via email or simply view it.
