WHAT IS BMI?
The acronym BMI stands for Body Mass Index. It was implemented by the World Health Organization in 1997. The BMI corresponds to a standard for assessing the risks related to insufficiency or being overweight.

What does the BMI show?
BMI is an index whose normalized intervals allow you to situate your physical condition. There are 5 main ones:
Malnutrition
The thinness
The normal index
Excess weight
Obesity (which includes 3 different degrees)

This Body Mass Index is calculated according to the person's size and weight. Initially, BMI or BMI only concerned adults aged 18 to 65 years. Thus, children, pregnant women, athletes and the elderly are not included in this calculation. In fact, great sportsmen have a distorted BMI because, being more muscular than the average, the weight of the muscles does not allow an accurate calculation of BMI.
