UVB-76, also known as Zhuzhalka, is a Russian shortwave radio station that began operating in 1982. Its main signal is a repeating monotonous beep with short breaks, which can sound around the clock. From time to time the signal is interrupted to transmit voice messages containing numbers, words or names, often of unknown purpose.
