NIHOTUPU, a Tūrehu spirit, invaded a plantation at Te Henga with the intentions of steal gourds. While at the garden,
Nihotupu came across PAREKURA from Te Kawerau ā Maki. Seizing the opportunity, the Tūrehu stole Parekura away
with him. As she was dragged back to Nihotupu’s lair, Parekura, using her quick wits, pulled white feathers from her
korowai to create a trail for her husband PANUKU follow.
