Pantun is one type of old poetry that is very widely known in the languages ​​of the Archipelago. Pantun is derived from the word pat guides in the Minangkabau language which means "guide". In Javanese, for example, it is known as parikan, in Sundanese it is known as papangkap, and in Batak it is known as umpasa (read: uppasa). Typically the pantun consists of four lines (or four lines if written), each line consisting of 8-12 syllables, rhyming end with a-b-a-b [1] and a-a-a-a pattern (not a-a-b-b, or a-b-b-a).
