1. OBJECTIVE
In this lab, you will go directly through the history of music by recognizing important musical works and composers. You will interpret the main characteristics and general lines of periods in the history of music and relate sounds, scores, images of visual arts and architecture.


At the end of this experiment, you should be able to:

classify the history of music into its Ancient or Classical periods, Middle Ages, Renaissance, Modern Age, Modern Art and Contemporary Art;

recognize some of the main works and artists and their geographic and historical contextualization;

interpret some traits of style, technique or use of music that characterize the uses and production of music and the transversal relationships with other disciplines.

2. WHERE TO USE THESE CONCEPTS?
Today, the production of scientific and academic knowledge and even everyday life are increasingly anchored in digital languages ​​and use communication and network interaction resources. This all indicates the need for a transversal or multidisciplinary approach applied to different areas of study and practice.

The recognition of aspects related to musical production, in this context, has a very diverse relevance. This relevance ranges from the importance of the specific study of the areas of music and art history to cross-recognition between discoveries in science, customs, behavior and communication.

Music is one of the most recurrent tools in humanity's cultural production, so an understanding and vision of its historical cycles allows us to understand, in broader contexts, aspects of civilization itself.

In this way, the conceptual tools acquired with this practice apply both to its specific study, for students in the area of ​​music or visual arts, as well as for contextualization and as an instrument that supports the knowledge of historical periods, in the most varied techniques and areas of study.

Among the direct applications of these tools, relationships with architecture, audiovisual production, acoustic and ambience studies, statistics, algorithms and programming languages, cultural, ethnic, geographic and behavioral studies and many others stand out. .

3. THE EXPERIMENT
In this laboratory, the student draws cards that show, on one side, a musical work and its author or score and, on the other side, an image or iconography from the period. He must choose a historical period and geographic region to deposit the letter and reveal detailed information and references.


4. SECURITY
Always be careful, when using virtual platforms and equipment, not to use the volume, especially headphones, excessively high, as it can be aggressive. When using images in work, research or presentations, you must always cite and give credit to the author and check the rights of use and reproduction.

5. SCENARIO
The student will have a chest in front of him, from which the letters will be removed. Each card, similar to a deck, will have two sides: on one of them, a song, score or author; in the other, a reference to a visual work, such as a painting, a sculpture or a work of architecture.

With 18 cards, three for each period in which the history of music is classified — Antiquity, Middle Ages, Renaissance, Modern Age, Modern Art and Contemporary Art —, the laboratory's challenge is to deposit the card in its historical period and in its space geographical.
