1. OBJECTIVE
The growing demand for aesthetic procedures aimed at improving the appearance of the skin, especially facial skin, has boosted the popularity of botox treatments. Thus, the application of Botox has become widely recognized, being recommended to resolve issues such as expression lines and wrinkles.
In this experiment, you will perform the botulinum toxin application procedure, understanding the fundamentals of its application, the necessary care during the procedure and the most common treatment areas in clinical practice. To do this, you will first need to identify the muscle regions of the face where the injection will be applied, prepare the patient and dilute the toxin to the most appropriate concentration. Don't forget to collect the patient's information in the anamnesis form and recommend post-treatment procedures.
At the end of this experiment, you should be able to:
correctly identify the most common treatment areas for the application of botulinum toxin;
demonstrate skills in the appropriate dilution and preparation of botulinum toxin for clinical use;
apply botulinum toxin safely and precisely, following hygiene and sterilization standards;
recognize and deal with possible complications during the procedure, such as bleeding or adverse reactions;
understand post-procedure care and guidance for patients after botulinum toxin application.
2. WHERE TO USE THESE CONCEPTS
The knowledge acquired in the application of botulinum toxin has direct and practical relevance in the professional life of a biomedical esthete. Mastering the techniques for diluting, preparing and applying botulinum toxin in a safe and effective way is essential to offering quality treatments to patients. Furthermore, this knowledge contributes to ensuring the safety of procedures, minimizing the risk of complications and ensuring satisfactory results.
3. THE EXPERIMENT
In this experiment, you will apply botulinum toxin. The focus will be on identifying the appropriate anatomical areas for toxin application, precise dilution according to the manufacturer's specifications, safe and effective application technique and understanding pre- and post-procedure care.
4. SECURITY
To apply botulinum toxin, the patient must lie on a stretcher covered with a paper sheet and wear a disposable cap. During the procedure, it should be placed comfortably in a reclined position at approximately 65 degrees. The professional who will perform the procedure must use the following personal protective equipment: gloves, cap, mask and lab coat. Protecting the stretcher, the patient and the professional is essential to avoid contamination and ensure patient safety.
5. SCENARIO
In the office where the practice will be carried out, there will be a stretcher for the patient to lie on and, next to the stretcher, a bench with the materials necessary to carry out the procedure, including gloves, paper towels, gauze, cotton, 70% alcohol, solution of 0.2% chlorhexidine, liquid facial soap, botulinum toxin, sterile saline solution, insulin syringe (100UI), 3mL syringe, 0.7x25mm needle, body pencil and hospital paper.
