1. OBJECTIVE
In this practice you will perform the hair detox procedure, or scalp detoxification. This therapeutic technique involves the combination of geotherapy techniques (therapeutic clays) and aromatherapy (essential and vegetable oils).


At the end of this experiment, you should be able to:

Perform the hair detoxification procedure;

carry out the cosmetic mixture of clay and essential oils relevant to this practice;

carry out the cleaning and completion necessary for the procedure.

2. WHERE TO USE THESE CONCEPTS?
This detox therapy is recommended in cases of lipid scalp, seborrheic dermatitis, inflammatory processes, folliculitis, ostia obstructed by excess oil and keratinization processes, dandruff and acne.

This procedure is widely used in spaces dedicated to hair therapies and the combination of geotherapy and aromatherapy. Its effectiveness has been proven by scientific studies and uses the biocompatibility of these elements with the skin, as well as their beneficial physiological effects. The ability of green clay to absorb oil and carry out metabolic exchanges, combined with the follicular unclogging, sebum-regulating, healing and anti-inflammatory properties of essential and vegetable oils, reestablishes the balance of the scalp.


3. THE EXPERIMENT
To begin this therapeutic process, the client's hair and scalp must be cleaned with neutral shampoo. The green clay will be hydrated with deionized water and then 2 drops of rosemary essential oil and 1 drop of tea tree essential oil will be added. This cosmetic blend must be applied to the scalp, remaining there for a period of 10 to 15 minutes, and must be removed as soon as the clay shows signs of dehydration. After removing all residue by washing the hair with neutral shampoo and conditioner, moisture must be removed from the hair and scalp using a towel. Afterwards, two drops of jojoba vegetable oil should be applied to the scalp, massaging it until absorbed. The process must be completed with a thermal protector and the hair must be dried with a hairdryer at a warm temperature.


4. SECURITY
In this practice, a lab coat, long pants, closed shoes and gloves will be used, and hair must be tied up or with a protective cap. These items are essential, as they reduce biological risk and the risk of poisoning due to excessive contact with essential oils.

The client must be protected with a towel around their neck and a chemical protection cap, as during practice there may be splashes that could contaminate their clothes.


5. SCENARIO
This practice will be conducted in the hair aesthetics laboratory. At the entrance to the laboratory, you will find a cabinet with the necessary clothing for your safety and that of your client.

In the washroom, you will find neutral shampoo and conditioner and towels.

In the bench environment, you will find the chair and the auxiliary cart, seat your client in the chair and go to your auxiliary cart. In the cart, you will find the paddle brush, to untangle the hair shafts, the pencil comb and the hair clips, to divide and secure the strands. In this environment, you will also find the brush, which will be used to apply the clay, the jojoba oil, the thermal protector and the hair dryer, to complete the procedures.

In the chemistry bench and supplies cabinet, you will find bowls, spatulas, precision scales, green clay, rosemary and tea tree essential oils and deionized water.
