“Light Cream Pods - Venice” is an AR (Augmented Reality)Featured at the 2024 Nigerian Pavilion of the 60th Venice Biennale. It is on public view Tuesdays through Sundays until the end of November, 2024.
This is access to a shared courtyard of mediated experiences, which the artist Fatimah Tuggar calls “Encounters”. It’s a way to explore her themes of human agency in transformation. Light Cream Pods in the second interactive media work in the artist’s “Creations Reactions” series. An installation-based work that harnesses Augmented Reality (AR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Animatronics within Architectural façades inspired by Tubali Hausa vernacular construction to explore how colonization and globalization have increased the negation of indigenous craft and the escalation of environmental assault. In balance, the work also offers explorations and playful encounters to prompt a shift in our perspectives. This application is key to opening “Doors” and “Windows” for new perspectives and perhaps altered perceptions. It’s up to you.
