Learning the Japanese characters isn't as hard as anybody says or how it might seem. I'm sure you can make it.

This app helps you remember Hiragana, Katakana, 280 basic Kanji and all the Kanji Radicals with some Variations.

Each level repeats 3-5 characters. If you play 1-2 levels per day you will be able to read all Hiragana and Katakana in less than a month. After that you will be able to read and write all Japanese words.
Kanji do need some more time to learn, but it will improve your understanding of the Japanese language. If you want to remember the Kanji I am sure you do understand that already.
While learning Kanji (especially when trying to remember how to write it) it helped me a lot to know which Radicals are in the Kanji. Maybe it will help you too.
