Crochet is the process of making lace fabrics from lace yarn by using a hook needle. The crocheted fabric has a continuous chain-like pattern. Unlike knitting needles, the lace needle has a hook on the end. The merenda products are small items such as round lace fabrics for table decorations, tablecloths, hats, bags, dolls, vests, and cardigans.

Like knitting, the basic crochet technique is to insert a thread into an existing node to create a new node. Different from knitting, there is only one open knot hole while crocheting (except when making Tunisian lace).
