The Bundesliga was originally founded in 1962 in the city of Dortmund by the Deutscher
Fußball-Bund, being the most profitable league in Europe. The first season was in 1963 and
had Cologne as the first champion, and the first scorer was the famous Uwe Seeler, from
Hamburg, and since then, only the city of Munich has celebrated two of its clubs as
champions: Bayern and München 1860. Its structure and organization, along with other
football leagues in Germany, have undergone frequent changes to this day. Currently the
Bundesliga is formed by 18 teams and all its clubs are automatically qualified for the
DFB-Pokal (German Cup); the champion qualifies for the DFL-Supercup (German Super
Cup).
