Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas is a Brazilian sports association, based in the neighborhood with the same name as the club, in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Born from the merger of Club de Regatas Botafogo (founded for rowing in 1894) with Botafogo Football Club (formed for football in 1904), it is one of the main clubs in Brazil. His greatest sporting glories come mainly from football, especially between the 1950s and 1960s, considered his golden age.

Among the Brazilian clubs in activity, Botafogo is the oldest multi-sport club and the 7th to practice football uninterruptedly. In 2006, with the conquest of the Campeonato Carioca de Futebol, it became the only Brazilian club champion in three centuries. Club de Regatas Botafogo was the first club from Rio de Janeiro to champion Brazilian rowing.
