Sport Club do Recife is a Brazilian sports club, located in the neighborhood of Ilha do Retiro, city of Recife, state of Pernambuco. It was founded on May 13, 1905, by Pernambuco native Guilherme de Aquino Fonseca, who lived for many years in England, where he studied at the University of Cambridge and returned to Pernambuco bringing with him his appreciation for that country's new sport: football.
