Arafat fasting is fasting on the Day of Arafat, the ninth day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah. This fast is highly recommended for Muslims who do not go on Hajj, as contained in the history of the Messenger of Allah S.A.W. about fasting Arafat:
"From Abu Qatadah Al-Anshariy (he said)," Surely the Prophet sallallaahualaihi wa sallam has ever been asked about (the virtue) of fasting on the day of Arafah? " So he answered, "Eradicate (mistakes) years ago and afterwards." (HR. Muslim no.1162 in a long hadith) "
In this noble hadith there is a very strong argument and proof about the time of fasting Arafat, namely on the day of Arafat when humans wuquf in Arafat. Because Arafat fasting is related to time and place. Not just with time like most other fasts. Because Arafat fasting is related to place, whereas Arafat only exists in one place, namely in Saudi Arabia near the city of Makkah, not in Indonesia or in other countries, the Arafat fasting time is when Muslims wuquf in Arafat.
