Shawwal fasting is fasting done after the Eid al-Fitr for 6 days. Fasting on that day the ruling on circumcision is based on the hadith of Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari r.a., he said, Rasulullah sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam said:
"Whoever fasts Ramadan is accompanied by six days of fasting in Shawwal, as if he is fasting all the time."
One of the doors of goodness is fasting. Rasulullah SAW. said:
"Will I show you the doors of kindness? Fasting is a shield, ... "
Fasting in this hadith is a shield for a Muslim both in the world and the hereafter. In the world, fasting is a shield from immoral acts, while in the hereafter it will be a shield from hellfire. Rasulullah SAW. also said in the hadith Qudsi:
"And my servant always draws close to me with the practices of the sunnah so that I love him."
Therefore, to get the love of Allah ta'ala, then do the sunnah fasting after doing what is required. Among the sunnah fasts that the Prophet saw. recommend after compulsory fasting (fasting Ramadan) is a six-day fast in Shawwal.
