The 'Bürgergeld' is a basic benefit provided by the German state for people in need and will replace the current unemployment benefit 2 (Hartz4) from 1 January 2023.

Your final 'Bürgergeld' application must be submitted via the job centre of the local authority or city administration of your place of residence (Germany). The application is the basic requirement for the payment of the citizen's income. Citizen's Income will not be paid without an application.
