The transport of calves between the dairy farmer and the collection center or veal farmer is registered in the Calf Tracking System (KVS). Traders or transporters assess and check calves on the dairy farm for age, weight and health and for correct registration of hair color and sex.
Calves that meet all criteria are taken from the dairy farm and registered in the KVS. If all criteria are not met, the calf will remain on the dairy farm until it meets the KVS registration. At the assembly center, i.e. before the calves go to the veal farm, assembly center employees carry out a second check against the criteria mentioned.
Traders use the KVS if they participate in the recognition scheme for collecting veal traders of Vee&Logistiek Nederland (V&LN) or participate in the Vitaal Kalf module. V&LN manages the register of participating collecting traders. Assembly centers can use the KVS if they participate in the V&LN accreditation scheme for assembly centers.
Collecting traders and transporters can contact V&LN for the recognition scheme and access to the Calf Tracking System and this APP.
