This augmented reality application for education and recognition of the traditional Javanese kendang musical instrument is designed to increase interest in recognizing the kendang. When users first open the application, they are directed to the main page, which displays three main menus: the 3D Scan menu, the Info menu, and the Play menu. The 3D Scan menu displays 3D visualizations of kendang objects from various regions. The Info menu provides an explanation of how to use the application and its features. The Play menu allows users to listen to the sound of kendangs according to their region of origin. Users can tap any of the menus as needed to begin exploring the application. Selecting the 3D Scan menu displays five types of kendang: West Javanese kendang, Central Javanese kendang, Ponorogo kendang, East Javanese kendang, and Banyuwangi kendang. After selecting a kendang type, the camera will activate, allowing users to point the camera at the marker (if available). A 3D drum object will appear on the screen and can be viewed from various angles, providing a visual experience as if the drum were actually present. On the Info Menu page, users will find various important information about the application, including explanations of each menu, steps for using the 3D Scan and Play features, and the functions of the available buttons, such as the sound button, back button, and exit button.
This page is very useful for users trying the application for the first time or who want to better understand the functions. Meanwhile, the Play Menu page presents the same options as in 3D Scan: five types of drums from different regions. After selecting a drum type, users will be taken to a page displaying interactive buttons. When the button is pressed, the application will play the drum sound according to the selected region of origin, allowing users to listen to and recognize the different characteristics of each drum's sound. After selecting a drum type in the Play menu, users will be directed to the Drum Menu page. This page contains drum sound buttons that can be played directly. Additionally, there are two silent accompaniment tracks for the kendang, allowing users to digitally play the kendang to the rhythm of the songs. There's also an exit button to return to the previous menu. This page is ideal for practicing or simulating kendang playing digitally and interactively.
