Social Sciences subjects are formulated on the basis of social reality, both at the national, ASEAN and global levels. Social studies is one of the compulsory subjects in SMP/MTs with the scope of material being Geography, Sociology, Economics, Anthropology and History. Social studies learning needs to be organized with an interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary or transdisciplinary approach from the social sciences, humanities and psychology of student development.
Social Sciences subjects are implemented through integrated learning using geography as a starting point (platform) for study considering that all events are tied to location. The aim is to emphasize the importance of interaction between spaces in strengthening the Republic of Indonesia. Social studies learning in SMP/MTs prioritizes social reality as learning material to develop social care attitudes, logical, systematic, critical, analytical thinking and social skills in facing the 21st century.
This book describes the minimum effort that students must make to achieve the expected competencies. In accordance with the approach used in the 2013 Curriculum, students are invited to dare to look for other learning resources that are available and spread widely around them. The teacher's role is very important to increase and adapt students' absorption capacity to the availability of activities in this book.
Teachers can enrich it with creations in the form of other appropriate and relevant activities originating from the social and natural environment. As the first edition, this book is very open to input and will continue to be improved and perfected.
