The curriculum and teaching materials for Catholic Religious Education and Character are prepared in the spirit of efforts to reform Indonesian national education as stated in Law Number 20 of the year. 2003 concerning National Education Standards, to produce human resources with Pancasila characteristics; in line with the Vision and Mission of the Ministry of Education and Culture as stated in Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 22 of 2020 concerning the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Education and Culture for 2020-2024, strengthening what the country aspires to in UUD 45 and Law No. 20 concerning the National Education System, emphasizing the importance educational output with Pancasila characteristics

In the context of Catholic Church faith education, the Curriculum and teaching materials for Catholic Religious Education and Character, try to reaffirm the catechetical approach as an approach that is considered quite relevant in the faith formation process. Through this approach, students are invited to be able to reflect on their daily life experiences in the light of faith in Jesus Christ as stated in the Holy Scriptures, Tradition and the Magisterium, so that they are able to discover God's concerns and will, in this way they repent and put their repentant attitude into action. real to build personal and collective life more in accordance with God's will

Of course other approaches are still very open to use. Likewise, the dimensions of human life and life of faith, namely: the personal dimensions of students and their environment, the dimensions of Jesus Christ - both hidden in the Old Testament and fully expressed in the New Testament, dimensions of the Church and dimensions of society, in the Curriculum and teaching materials this is still maintained.
