Hello and welcome to "Nora"!
In this audio-only game you slip into the role of the girl Nora and find yourself in someone else's apartment after being kidnapped. But there is a problem: Nora is blind and neither knows where she is, nor how and why she was kidnapped! The only support she has is YOU!
Just like the protagonist herself, you see NOTHING. Put on headphones and listen carefully so that you can orient yourself in the three-dimensional soundscape of the game. Acoustic cues from objects, as well as voice cues from the protagonist, support you with various small tasks that are waiting for you in the individual rooms in order to free Nora from the apartment unscathed.
In binaurally produced cutscenes recorded with an artificial head microphone, you will learn more about the plot and feel Nora's interaction with the kidnapper from her perspective. In the playable levels you navigate Nora through the 3D soundscape and help her to escape from the situation.
"Nora" should work for visually impaired and blind people, but also offer an innovative way of playing for sighted players.
The game was created as part of my master's thesis in the course "Time-Dependent Media: Sound - Vision - Games" at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences.
