Sufism is an educational model that pays more attention to the sanctity of the soul. Sufism is tasked with educating the spiritual for the purpose of a Muslim in order to achieve the dignity of ihsan. The tarekat is a Sufi educational institution that is patterned specifically for the purpose of cleansing the heart (tathir al-Qalb) and purifying the soul (tazkiyat al-Nafs).

The tarekat occupies a special position because of its existence as an institution that is devoted to cleaning up reprehensible morals and adorning the soul with commendable morals and various virtues. It is a necessity to take the tariqa from a sheikh.

The tarekat was born from the holy sharia. The tarekat becomes a spiritual education system based on the Sunnah of the Nabawi, because the chain continues with the Prophet SAW. It is not enough to be able to understand and practice what the Al-Kitab and al-Sunnah demand without relying on the tarekat as a foundation.

Tarekat is not a science of speech and formal (outward) legal laws. Rather it is related to matters of the heart and inner morals. So it is not enough just to read the texts (books) of the priests.
