Władysław Bartoszewski transferred his private archives to the Ossolineum. He belonged to the generation of witnesses to the most important events in the history of Poland in the 20th century. The souvenirs he collected - books, documents, photographs, awards - perfectly illustrate this difficult period for Poland. Already on the basis of the awards themselves, which are works of medal and sculptural art, you can tell about the latest history of Poland.
We present the history of Polish-German relations in the 20th century from the outbreak of World War II to the speech of Władysław Bartoszewski in the Bundestag in front of the combined chambers of the German Parliament in 1995 and illustrate it with awards, medals, plaques and orders, including the most important: the Order of the White Eagle and the Grand Cross of Merit West Germany with a Star and a Ribbon.
