This book in the hands of readers is an effort to provide support for efforts to overcome the dangers of plastic waste and environmental sustainability efforts through a touch of Islam, especially fiqh. The environment is a gift from Allah SWT. and become an inseparable part of human life.
The environment directly becomes the need for human beings to live their lives and maintain their existence. Therefore, human life cannot be separated from the natural life of its environment.
There is an interplay between human life behavior and the natural conditions of the environment. The quality of the environment greatly influences the quality of human life. Therefore, the responsibility to protect and preserve the environment is integrated with the responsibility of humans as creatures of God who are tasked with making the earth prosperous. The environment was created by God as a gift for mankind and contains enormous good intentions.
The irony is that humans are less able to carry out the mandate to protect and preserve the environment. Environmental pollution, especially that caused by plastic waste, is very worrying. The latest data shows that Indonesia's current status is the second largest producer of plastic waste in the world after China. Indonesia produces around 130,000 tons of plastic waste every day.
Only half is disposed of and managed in final disposal sites (TPA). The rest is burned illegally or thrown into rivers and seas, destroying the ecosystem. When microplastic waste turns into nanoplastics and is then eaten by fish and then consumed by humans, plastic waste has become a real threat to human health and the environment.
This indicates that the issue of environmental sustainability is not an individual problem, but has become a general problem. The Koran has described the damage that occurs in the world as being caused by human actions.
