Bulls & Cows works a little like the classic hangman game, except you must guess an entire word instead of a single letter. A “bull” means you’ve guessed a correct letter in the correct place, while a “cow” means you’ve guessed a correct letter in an incorrect place. For example, if the secret word is “gave,” guessing the word “give” yields 3 Bulls (g, v, and e) and 0 Cows while guessing the word “oven” yields 0 Bulls and 2 Cows (v and e). Bulls & Cows uses isograms—words that have no repeated letters—to make guessing the correct word a bit easier.
