Faunet is an augmented reality (AR) application in APK format, focused on the dissemination of knowledge about the animals that live in the Amazon region of Cobija, Pando. This platform seeks to combine technology and education to offer users an enriching experience, allowing them to interactively learn about the characteristics, behaviors and habitats of local fauna.
The development of the application was carried out using the Unity video game engine together with the AR tool Vuforia, allowing 3D models of the animals to be integrated with interactive functionalities in real time. Through the mobile device's camera, users can scan Image Targets and view animals in 3D, creating an immersive experience where species come to life.
"Faunet" has been developed for the Amazon Research and Production Center of the Amazonian University of Pando, with the aim of strengthening environmental education and ecological awareness in the community. The app not only offers an innovative visual look at local wildlife, but also includes detailed information about each animal, such as its scientific name, conservation status, and its importance to the region's ecosystems.
By combining augmented reality elements with educational content, "Faunet" allows both students and the general public to have an interactive tool to learn about the regional animals of Cobija. Additionally, the use of emerging technologies such as AR reflects a commitment to integrating technological innovation into environmental education and the preservation of the natural heritage of the Amazon.
This application also seeks to serve as a useful resource for educational and tourist activities, promoting knowledge of regional biodiversity and raising awareness about its conservation.
