Betawi mask is an original Betawi art consisting of play, speech and dance, which tells a simple story with elements of comedy, not just dancing using masks. Betawi masks develop in the periphery of Betawi cultural areas, especially in the north of Bogor Regency, throughout the Bekasi Regency, and east of Tangerang Regency. Masks can be played in the open or on stage. But for masked singing, they usually play without a stage, alias in the open.

H. Muhammad Bokir Bin Dji'un (born in Cisalak Pasar, Bogor, West Java, which is now included in the Cimanggis area, Depok, December 25, 1925 - died in Jakarta, October 18, 2002 at the age of 76) was a Betawi mask artist. He was born to Mak Kinang & Dji'un, and was related to Dalih bin Dji'un and Ni'iih bin Dji'un.

The Betawi tribe is an ethnic group in Indonesia whose residents generally live in Jakarta. They are descendants of residents who lived in Batavia (colonial name of Jakarta) since the 17th century.
