To improve his skills, Manteb learned a lot from senior puppeteers, for example to the legendary puppeteer Ki Narto Sabdo in 1972, and to Ki Sudarman Gondodarsono, who was an expert in alphabet, in 1974. Ki Manteb's expertise in alphabet processing was not just a fighting scene, but also includes scenes of dancing, sad, happy, surprised, sleepy, and so on. In addition, he also created flashback scenes that were previously only known in the world of cinema and literary works.
