AAClatan is a low-cost and Tagalog-focused mobile Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) application that seeks to address the lack of such an AAC tool in clinics and households today
A big pain point that Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) have expressed is that customizing page sets on the apps is too time consuming. This is further exaggerated because popular apps are English focused. English focused page sets and pictograms .This stunts the growth and development of the client and makes it more difficult for SLPs to edit the apps. Especially for Tagalog speaking clients.
Since Tagalog is the most widely spoken language in households in the Philippines today, it is paramount that we address this need.
Our goal is to improve our Filipino SLP's workflow by providing the ability to create page sets and remotely upload to the client’s device. This is on top of the much more fundamental Tagalog Language features that include Tagalog text-to-speech, Tagalog language boards & page sets, and our very own Tagalog pictogram library
