Designed by a board-certified allergist and food allergen desensitisation expert, the ACE (Allergy Centre of Excellence) app has been developed for the Food Allergy Immunotherapy Centre (FAIC) as a tool to monitor the progress of FAIC’s patients as they progress through food allergen desensitisation treatment, such as oral immunotherapy (OIT) or sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT). The app will be distributed by FAIC directly to their patients as a free download.
Customization:
The app integrates FAIC-designated protocols, medications, and dosing rules. Patients can set their own reminders for daily dosing and the app alerts both the patient and FAIC when doses have been missed.
Safety Optimization:
The app is designed to prompt dose deferral or reduction in the appropriate clinical scenarios, such as illness, vaccination, or dental procedures, according to custom parameters set by FAIC.
Dosing Record:
The ACE app timestamps all patient food allergen desensitisation doses and keeps an ongoing log of dosing activity that is accessible by both FAIC and patients.
Reaction Management:
Safety is our priority. The app will provide real-time guidance for the management of any dose reactions (according to a FAIC-prescribed action plan), including personalised medication names and doses. All reactions and treatments will be logged in the record and be accessible to both FAIC and patients.
Convenience:
Multiple patients can be added on a single account, so there’s no need to toggle between different accounts if there is more than one family member pursuing therapy.
