The Patron Festivities of Almuñécar, are celebrated in honor of the Virgen de la Antigua, Patroness of Almuñécar from August 9 to 15.
Being the procession of the Patron on August 15, declared in 2003 as a Festival of National Tourist Interest of Andalusia. Good part of these festivities take place in the Fairground, located in the Paseo Blas Infante, where the booths are located and fairground attractions. The festive program is very varied, with free activities in the Official Party Booth, as well as sporting events, competitions and games aimed at the little ones.The parties end on August 15 with the Maritime-Land Procession. The Virgen de la Antigua processions from the Church of the Incarnation to the beach of San Cristóbal, where it is embarked accompanied by a multitude of boats to the Puerta del Mar beach. As it passes through the Peñones del Santo, the Castle of Fireworks, authentic spectacle of light and sound.
