Prostration of Gratitude is Prostration which is done due to give thanks for the Favor of Allah, because it has been blessed with favors (success) or has been released from danger (calamity), either pleasure or calamity that is individual or general in nature (upon Muslims). Jumhur scholars agree that his circumcision is working on Prostration of Gratitude.

Prostration of Gratitude in the Sunnah in two conditions:
1. When there are new gifts or favors such as someone receiving guidance, converting to Islam, or Muslims getting help or birth of a child, etc.
2. When disaster is prevented or avoided, such as surviving a shipwreck accident, a plane crash or surviving a murder, and so on.

This prostration of Gratitude is prescribed as in the opinion of Imam Shafi'i, Imam Ahmad, Ishaq, Abu Tsaur, Ibnul Mundhir, Abu Yusuf, the fatwa of Muhammad bin Al Hasan Asy Syaibani, and the opinions of some Malikiyah scholars.

The proof of his Prostration of Prostration of Gratitude is, From Abu Bakroh, from the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam, that is when he found an encouraging thing or reported good news, he fell down to bow down to Allah Ta'ala. (Narrated by Abu Daud no. 2774. Shaykh Al Albani says that this hadith is authentic)
