Farmers Distress Indicator
The Farmers Distress Indicator app is designed to help farmers self-assess their level of distress and overall well-being. With increasing concerns about low farm incomes, frequent climate-related challenges (such as droughts, floods, and new pests), and unpredictable market prices, farmers are facing significant risks. This app aims to provide a quick and easy way for farmers to gauge their current situation.
Through a simple questionnaire, the app evaluates distress levels based on 10 key factors:
1. Crop and Livelihood Status
2. Water Availability
3. Market Access and Prices
4. Financial Situation
5. Loan Repayment
6. Climate and Weather Impact
7. Labor and Input Costs
8. Health and Well-being
9. Government Support
10. Community Support
The assessment consists of straightforward "yes" or "no" questions. Based on the answers, farmers are categorized into one of three groups:
• Low Distress (Green)
• Moderate Distress (Yellow)
• High Distress (Red)
By identifying their level of distress, farmers can better understand their risks and take proactive steps to alleviate distress.
