When they were near the Pemberley Forest, the two friends got out of the carriage in which the three were in an argument, and headed into the woods, after which the driver and Mrs. Lydia heard the loud sound of gunshots; So the chauffeur, with Lady Lydia, hurried to Pemberley, fearing for her life. It was later revealed that Captain Martin had been killed, and Wickham was heard shouting beside the corpse: 'I have killed my only friend. This is my fault.” What are the circumstances of this crime? Did Beckham really kill his friend, Captain Martin?
