He is just a little bigger than a sheep and weighs between 50 and 80 kg, for a size ranging from 75 cm to 1 m tall. Its head is short, its ears are pointed, and its mouth is forked and split.
In the wild, we find the alpaca in South America, all along the Andes mountain range, in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Peru. However, it is now high in several other countries such as England, Switzerland, Australia, the United States and Canada.
The alpaca feeds mainly on grass and hay.
Alpaca wool is internationally recognized as a premium fiber. Indeed, it is warmer, more resistant and softer than sheep's wool.
