Shatin is the most populous area in Hong Kong, with more than 690,000 residents. It used to be a small village where fishermen and farmers gathered. Although it gradually developed into a new town in the 1970s, it still retains many traditional rural characteristics. Shatin is a diverse community that boasts a busy commercial district and beautiful natural landscapes, while retaining historical and cultural heritage such as historic walled villages.
In order to promote community exchanges, Po Leung Kuk Chu Ching Yin Primary School developed the mobile application "Shatin Tour", which provides an innovative community tour model through students' personal inspections and street visits, and combines virtual reality technology to allow residents and tourists to explore the charm of Shatin together.
