Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation skill that forms the basis of any resuscitation effort. It is a required skill for any clinician involved in the care of the critically ill. In addition, the skills taught by the American Heart Association (AHA) have frequently been used by members of the public to save lives "out on the streets".
