What is RUF:Mi?
RUF:Mi is a demand-responsive, on-demand bus service that complements existing scheduled services and offers a flexible, environmentally friendly, and efficient mobility solution, especially in less densely populated regions. Trips are only available by prior reservation, thus avoiding unnecessary empty runs and reducing operating costs. Two of the vehicles used are electric and are charged at the depot with electricity generated by the company's photovoltaic system. The vehicle fleet
also includes a wheelchair-accessible minibus, which can be booked for barrier-free transport upon advance reservation (at least the day before) and availability!

A model with a future
Since 2018 – then still known as Althofen Mobil – RUF:Mi has been bringing flexible mobility to rural areas. The project is being implemented jointly by Hofstätter Touristik GmbH, Kärnten Bus GmbH, and the Carinthian Transport Association (VKG). What began as a pilot project is now a success story – and continues to grow. With the expansion to Friesach, RUF:Mi is setting a strong example for sustainable mobility, social participation, and smart infrastructure – precisely where it is most urgently needed: in rural areas.
