In 2010, Apex Steel acquired Ken Aluminium Products, known as KAP Plastics, to manufacture hot and cold water pipes.

Apex Steel was the FIRST steel company to produce deformed bars in Kenya, the FIRST company in Kenya to produce PPR pipes, the FIRST to introduce high-speed state-of-the-art European mills that have revolutionized the way tubes are made, and the FIRST and ONLY steel company in the region to be awarded LEED certification for its environmentally friendly manufacturing process.
